Artist Statement ~ New Work
It’s 2025, I’ve lived in New Mexico for quite some time now. From Los Angeles to the Southwest
. The landscapes in a rural town have that essence of a “Stillness in time”. Old dilapidated adobe ruins and walls built over 125 years ago, abandoned Casitas dating back to the late 1800’s. These Casitas were homes for 2 to 4 generations and any exterior/interior structural repairs came at a high cost. Therefore, all attempts at salvaging their homes, churches, salas and tienditas had various applications of adobe stucco, wallpaper(s) and layers of paint. On occasion, small written words of love, significant dates and expressions were found on the walls. As they stand today with all their beauty its a reminder of life once lived on New Mexico!
